Hypsterno J. Hypno

Hypsterno J. Hypno is some hipster who just kind of showed up one day. He isn't specifically part of any ongoing plot, but is determined to stick his, admittedly large, nose into any plot he sees. He is pretentious, obnoxious, laid back and smug. Possibly the best or the worst combination of those traits, depending on whom you ask. He (apparently) has a deep-seated belief in "Hipsterism" (although he changes its name periodically, possibly to sew confusion and possibly because he hasn't actually decided on a name). The beliefs of this religion, although one would certainly hesitate to call it a religion, are mostly unknown and it is more than likely that he makes it up as he goes along.

Currently Hypsterno is in the possession of Anise, an inventory grunt in Team Rocket, and considers himself a Team Rocket agent. Because Anise is an inventory grunt and not a field agent, Hypsterno spends most of his days wandering around the Goldenrod Rocket Base, looking for someone with business to stick his nose into.

Early Life

Hypsterno J. Hypno was born to a loving mother and father somewhere in Kanto, both Hypnos. All was well and good, until young Hypsterno fought his first opponent, a neighboring Rattata. Hypsterno's father looked on proudly at his son, expecting a Pound or a Disable to be his first move. To his shock and dismay, Hypsterno used Thunderpunch, a move that he couldn't possibly have earned from his father's genetics.

The affair was put into light. Hypsterno's mother had been cheating on the Hypno whom he had thought to be his father, with a Hitmonchan nonetheless! Hypsterno's parents refused to let a bastard child and a single affair ruin their marriage, and so Hypsterno was dumped onto the doorstep of his genetic father, the previously mentioned Hitmonchan.

Hypsterno and the Hitmonchan did not get along. Hypsterno was a quiet, nerdy child that Hitmonchan refused to speak to and could not seem to resist punching. If it were not for his type advantage, the young Drowzee would not have survived his childhood. But because he did have the advantage, he survived the many encounters with his father. While still quite and reserved around others, Hypsterno grew fit to fight. He and his father gained a silent language all their own, based entirely on how many times and how hard they punched one another.

At the same time, he began to lose the shyness that had plagued him all those years. Once he had fought his father and won (although it didn't happen often, there was the occasional victory), strangers seemed less intimidating. Confidence grew along with his level, and he became the smug character he is today. Once he evolved, he left home and never looked back, starting on his adventures along with humans.

The very first human facility he visited was an obscure coffee shop. Rather than burst in and make his presence known, he decided to study the humans, and to learn how they acted as they drank their coffee and talked about scarves and virtually unknown bands. It was Hypsterno's first exposure to hipsters, and the sub-culture swallowed him whole. It wasn't long before he began drinking Pabst, smoking and wearing ridiculous scarves, fitting in and having actual conversations with hipsters.

It is unknown when he began spouting off nonsense about Hipsterism, just as it is unknown whether he actually believes in the religion or is just being ironic.

Family and Other Relationships

Hypsterno never knew his genetic mother or her husband that well, and would prefer not to know them at all. He resents them for abandoning him, understandably. In contrast, Hypsterno has a grudging respect for his genetic father. While he dislikes the Hitmonchan greatly for the years of physical abuse, he knows that part of the reason he is who he is is because of his father, and nothing can change that. Still, he knows that being a hipster that worships some made-up deity named after a brand of beer would annoy all three of them at the very least. Those don't seem to be his only motivations for doing so, but it doesn't seem to hurt, either.

Hypsterno likes and respects his trainer Anise and considers her a sister or a mother or a crazy aunt with lots of cats, depending on the situation. While she may seem like a humorless goody two-shoes, she works for a criminal organization and does things for Team Rocket without question. She may just be another gear in the machine, but she is Hypsterno's favorite gear, and when he throws a monkey wrench into the works, he tries his best to leave that gear unaffected by his antics.

One-night-stand Gladys the Hypsterno became a permanent part of Hypsterno's life when she laid an egg. The baby was his. Now she spends a large amount of time complaining to him when something goes wrong with their child (but that's because it's usually his fault) He looks to her as some kind of bitch, always trying to ruin his fun, but he also knows that she worries a lot, and does his best to not do permanent harm to their child.

Dickjokes the Drowzee is Hypsterno's daughter. When Dickjokes' egg finally hatched, her mother was away, and so it was up to Hypsterno to choose a name. Hypsterno knows that he's a terrible parent, and doesn't try to hide that fact. However, he tries to be a /fun/ terrible dad so his daughter won't hate him completely as an adult. Really, though, she's a Drowzee. Those kinds of jokes are going to happen, Hypsterno just decided to beat you to the punchline. That being said, when one of the many Silvers tried to take her away from him, Hypsterno not only defeated that Silver's Pokemon, but also sterilized the boy via Thunderpunch. He has stated that he will kill anyone who tries to do his child harm, and for the first time in a long time, Hypsterno was not being ironic about it.

The Move Tutor has an extremely strained relationship with Hypsterno. To put it simply, Hypsterno and Anise kidnapped him one day and are keeping him locked in a closet of the Team Rocket base in Goldenrod. Hypsterno was supposed to kill him after so many hours without a randsom, but instead Hypsterno just keeps the man locked in a closet in case Hypsterno needs to change his moveset. The relationship is quite convenient for Hypsterno, much less so for the Move Tutor.
